The Chakana Path: Tiger’s Eye & Quartz Totem
Discover the sacred geometry of the Andes with this stunning Chakana (Inca Cross) pendant. The Chakana represents the bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds, centered here with a golden Tiger’s Eye—a stone of protection, courage, and focused will.
Cascading from the cross is a natural Quartz point, clear and radiant, wrapped in an intricate Alpaca silver design of the Kolibri (Hummingbird) and the Serpent. These guardians represent the eternal dance between heaven and earth, accented by a drop of turquoise-hued Chrysocolla.
Handcrafted by our partner artisans in Peru, this necklace is a physical manifestation of balance and ancient wisdom.
What is Alpaca Silver?
Alpaca silver (also known as “Nickel Silver” or “German Silver”) is a high-quality metal alloy widely used by South American artisans for its beauty and resilience.
• The Composition: Despite its name, it does not contain elemental silver. It is a sturdy blend of copper, nickel, and zinc.
• The Look: It is prized for its bright, lustrous finish that mimics the look of sterling silver but at a more accessible price point.
• Durability: It is significantly harder and more durable than pure silver, meaning it holds its shape beautifully and is highly resistant to tarnishing.
• Artisanal Tradition: In Peru, Alpaca silver has a deep history. Local master-smiths favor it for its malleability, allowing them to hand-carve the intricate, detailed patterns you see in our hummingbird and serpent designs.
Care Note: Because of its copper content, Alpaca silver may eventually develop a warm patina. A quick polish with a soft cloth or a bit of lemon juice restores its original shine!
Please note: As it contains nickel, this material may not be suitable for those with specific nickel allergies.
